My boys are growing up and are so much more media savy then this duck. So this arvo my boys Locke and Jeremy set up a YouTube channel for the forum They are pushing me to do a cook how to with them filming. So my head for radio will be out there. Im hoping, Down the track that other members can submit content to the channel if they so wish. All a bit of fun and great exposure for our group How Im going to place it here? I dunno yet. I'm up for opinions

Just a bit of fun really and something to do with my eldest boy who is showing real interest in cooking. At the moment Im penning a few concepts for vids. Obviously our recipes and possibly some of our topics. Im penning a few catch words like "The Aussiecue kitchen" , or welcome to,, "It's All about the food" is definitely going to be in there. Just need to brush up on my acting skills.

There is no expectation for members to add to it. Those that do YouTube would have there own channels anyway so it will most likely just be me cooking the fantastic recipes that get posted here.

Hmmm, Would it be possible to have the video put onto the "cloud" google or skydrive or the like & then Smokey puts it up so the number of channels stays small? Just thinking out loud

I guess a phone will do it Smokey, had not thought of it but the results Richo gets with his GoPro are great. There would be no problem at all in having the vids on a cloud drive Gatsby, Google for preference, good sized free quota and dirt cheap if you go over. I'm not sure it is necessary though, the Tube is purpose built for streaming video, in the end a cloud drive is just storage. Cheers

That is the option I was thinking possible. I could upload anyones vid to the forum channel if they want me to. But then it occurred to me that most would probably prefer their own vids on their own channels.
ATM, Anyone can put up a link to there own channel anywhere on the forum as a show and tell. That will always be the case.
So nothing here will change, Other than every now and then I'll mention that a new vid has gone up over at YouTube land. Most likely a new sub board so they are veiwable here as well. Should make a good forum PR as I can give credits to the members here who put up the recipes. Or, If they don't do YouTube but want to place a vid on the forum channel ? We can accomodate that.

Ah, ignore what I said, was having a blonde moment I don't upload to Tube, do watch a lot so not aware of the upload process. In a completely different vein though it would not be at all a bad idea to have a Cloud storage drive for the forum, Google is in my opinion the best to use but Dropbox is perfectly ok, where once we get moved to the new board we can keep backups. Cheers

....
Yeah, sent Richo a message a few days ago on that - it really is a pain, but I honestly think it is getting time before it becomes a bigger one.

A tutorial on "how's the quickest way to upload to the tube" would be great.
In the past, I have uploaded a few vids to Youtube, and it turned out to be a real PITA. The biggest file I have uploaded was a 4 minute clip taken with my digital camera, and upload time (and I have very fast internet speed) was, from memory about 30 minutes.
Why it took so long, I have no bloody idea.
And this is where the more knowledgeable could advise. Format type, sizing, compacting to upload the file quicker is a pure ignorance of mine. To sum it up "stuffed if I know"

Ah.... Like I said Shayne I haven't done it, can go do some research or see if Richo has a tute on it, he may. The most likely reasons for an upload taking a while are actually quite complex in themselves. First upload speeds are usually a fraction of download so although you can pay for a fast link it doesn't mean you have that speed upstream. That is improving although the ISP industry in general is wary of it, because of Torrents - P2P networking. Second is the format the video is in. I'm an utter neophyte there, but it is similar to audio which I do a lot with, raw formats get big, lossy can get ugly, lossless compression is the sweet spot. The biggest issue though can be prioritisation. Your ISP, or any intermediary in the chain to Tube, or Tube itself, can set your upload a low priority if there is either a default on that or a dynamic if real-time traffic is present or simply if it is busy. Sometimes, despite having been part and party to the net since its beginnings I kinda wonder just how the thing works at all Best advice with uploads at the moment? Set them running and go do something else, they have a mind of their own Cheers

I'm finding all this problem out as we speak. Taped a test vid this arvo but it won't upload to an IPad from the camera like still shots do. My PC has two broken USB ports so need to get them fixed before I can take the next step. I really need the PC to do this. The kids seem to think they can film on there I Pads and auto upload from there so will give that a try tommoro. Everything is linked between Google and YouTube so maybe they are right. Cant be that bloody hard

Hmm, If you have broken USB ports I'd really like to know how, sounds like either brutality or a simple software guidance from here - USB is very robust I have an allergy to Apple product so can't help you there, but it does sound a bit odd, Apple is all about IT for everyone Cheers
