I have spent some time perfecting this little gem. I have seen versions of this before but not with the little improvements that I have incorporated. I started out just improving on the way that I cook eggs in a muffin tray on the Q and ended up taking it to a new level. One of the problems I have always had is cleaning the baked on egg from the muffin tray. a real pain in the a***. I found a good individual non-stick oval shaped pie dish that would take the heat and not deteriorate or flake and would wash up easily with no food residue sticking to the inside. The Wiltshire oval pie dish I wiped the inside with a heavy smear of butter and placed a rasher of bacon on each side so they just overlapped at the bottom and nearly met at the ends. I cut 2 smaller pieces on each end to cover the gap. I then layered the bottom with a couple of slices of tomato, I then break 2 eggs into the dish, season with a bit of S&P and cover with thin shavings of cheese. I then cook it indirect in a preheated BBQ at 375 - 400F for 10 minutes and check for doneness. The eggs should be just runny and the whites firm. Finished Dish Served You can add other bits and pieces to this Breakfast Pie if you like, however you will need to cook the bits and pieces first in most cases. Cheers Captain

Looks like the right size and shape to do that right Phil, Well done and great pics and description. You nailed those eggs. The shape of the oval pie tins seem perfect for the bacon and not too deep like a muffin tin so cooks more even. When I give this a fling, I'll add a few canned asparagus spears just under the cheese

Now that looks really good, an opportunity to do something on the Q that will substitute for my wife having to do poached eggs. I don't think I've ever seen those pie dishes though, can think of a few other things they will be useful for, about to go looking Cheers Edit: Wonder if these would be a good alternative? www.kitchenwarehouse.com.au/IBC-Individual-Oval-Pie-Tin-13-5cm-4pc?sc=328&category=10086605I have a Kitchenwarehouse a stone's throw away and have a pile of loyalty points I think

I bought the oval dishes from Woolies about 9 bucks I think. I bought a set for the Winnebago as well.
Cheers

I just do not have a what I would call easily accessible Woolies here at the moment Phil, it's quite bizarre actually with all the news about white heat competition between them and Coles. I can drive a matter of a kilometer in one of two directions and be at a Coles or an IGA, about 3kms to a nice friendly Farmer Jacks but the nearest Woolies is maybe 8kms away and not nice. There's a better one about the same distance but a more annoying drive and a huge but needs a pack lunch to get to inside a shopping centre one sort of in the middle distance We don't even bother to read their weekly specials at the moment. I'm so very used to having a nearby centre with a Coles at one end and a Woolies at the other that it has been a bit of a shopping shock unless I want to visit mega-mall, which I do not Cheers
