www.broadsheet.com.au/melbourne/food-and-drink/article/bluebonnet-bbq-fireI always thought running these smokers indoors is a fire hazard, Seems the owner dropped the ball and left it unatended while the fire box went nuclear. When I cooked on Kev's Gordy 84 Lang, It started a grass fire just from radiant heat. (We had a hose on the spot) Its possible BCA standards haven't caught up with the relatively new trend.

Mick don't forget the bag of beads in the hot box........ still but.............it did supply instant burning fuel for GORDY kevin I wasn't going to mention that, but since you reminded me I did have a little chuckle. It does go to show, Do these 'Pit' fad outlet owners have the sensibilitys to drive them? From this blokes response in the article, There is no responsibility taken but rather " I'll get everyone else to pay for my Mistake" Not the first time he has done that either, Lack of business security saw his premises trashed by vandals then he asked the public to pay for repairs. Thats good community spirit and all that but sheesh? Though I do concede the vandalism could have occurred no matter how good business security is. State fire brigades ought to run spot checks of adjacent wall and floor temps while these things are running taking into account what said walls and floors are constructed from. Sorry about the Rant, It's hard not to see it when my day job is to find these things. Would be great to see more of these superb cookers out there in restaurants but without burning buildings down is all I'm getting at.
