This buisness never stops to amaze.
Our local setup an inhouse bakery some months back, and their offerings, not only cheap to the pocket but the quality, top notch.
The kids love their Cheese an Bacon rolls (me too) but just the other day, was in there where they had a table set up, with one of the staff ofering samples of their Sourdough range. Tried the Olive infused one and it hit the spot.
Since then, i have bought a few of these loaves at $2.40 ea and less than half the price that Coles sells at.
Today i bought a whole freshly baked Tiger loaf at $1.99 an it was really nice.
I said to the Missus that the price and quality craps all over the budjet Asian Bread shop just up the road. I also said that Aldi has my full support on their new venture, and will make more than an effort to give as much buisness to them as i can as my local isnt the bussiest store, and if the bakery isnt pulling enough dollars to keep the setup feesible, they will pull it out of there i am sure.
If your store is lucky enough to have a Bakery section, try their breads out as i am sure you be pretty impressed.

Some interesting. Points are brought up here. My local ALDI does not have a onsite bakery but my local bakery is absolute crap. I often feel like slapping them to lift there game and create a wow factor before the tweed ALDI knocks them over. I mean what are they thinking? It's all the same old stodge. None of it is Particulary good.
I seriously think baking schools such as TAFE has lowered the bar big time when I can make a fantastic French sausage roll and the local bread shop produces something I could use as a sway bar for my Tojo Hilux. What DONT they understand when I can see it and have never done a cooking course in my life? They dig there own holes so it seems.

Heh,
Not yet having Aldi in any form can only imagine but do they bake properly or is it pre-mix I wonder ?
I pretty much gave up on commercial bread years ago, Baker's Delight etc very, very ordinary really. For most simple bread use, mainly toast, we buy Lawson's, not cheap but at least it is good tasty bread.
For anything else I make it myself.

In the pics below, you may be able to work out how they do it by the ingredients list.
Either way, I find it to be really good, and much better than what I can locally access where I live.

Looks delicious, and from the label very much real bread I would think.

Will have to go to ones near me and see if they do this. For some reason I have about 5 within a 15 min drive! At least they say made elsewhere and delivered frozen, finished in shop. Unlike the other that had them made in the UK and then said baked in house....
My local baker is very average and the service is poor. No smiles just a surly attitude as if he is doing me a favor and how dare I interrupt what ever he is doing out back. Now looking around for some place better. But for everyday bread I love the stuff the bread maker does, the simple easy recipe that came in the book with the unit.
Cheers

I love my local Viet bakery. Absolute top quality bread thanks to a hundred odd years of French colonisation. Unfortunately though they just can't quite get pies and sausage rolls. Five bakeries within walking distance of my place and only one goes close to a decent pie.
No Aldi bakers just yet but I have no doubt they will fire up soon.

We have a Vietnamese bakery like that near here Dave, bread is pretty good but I do prefer to bake my own, but their take-away food really is quite strange. My wife like's their quiche, I get about a pasty a month from them and it's ok.... But can anyone explain to me why they have their otherwise pretty ok potato pie tightly glad wrapped ? PITA to get into Cheers
