A recipe from my part of the world for whole leg of goat roast is to make incisions with a knife and insert garlic cloves, pepper corns and/or rosemary. Then you massage a bit of EVOO on the meat and season with S&P.
It is then roasted, traditionally in a wood-fired oven surrounded with potatoes that roast in the meat juices. They dont come out crispy but really tasty.

My missus doesn't want anything to do with goat Looks like no goat for me In some desperation to get my wife to expand her repertoire of meat, currently restricted to chicken, seafood, some minced beef, liver and chicken livers, in other words no full beef, no lamb, no pork, I suggested goat. Received much the same reply Her reason has nothing to do with diet or religion I'd add, she used to live on a farm and became too attached to the meat animals. Cheers

My missus doesn't want anything to do with goat Looks like no goat for me Solution.......................
Don't tell her its Goat, but rather a lean leg of Lamb
She probably will never know, as Goat is alike, but better IMO.
Mmmmm, I might have to dig up a recipe I went with years ago... "Jerked Goat" that I posted on another BBQ forum.
From memory, it turned out really well

Unless I can persuade her it's chicken mate, and the thought of a chicken with a leg that size has me recalling how big the dodo statue is at Mauritius airport, subterfuge is not the answer. Fortunately we have a negotiated peace, when what we want to eat does not align we cook for ourselves. So tonight she is having a salmon steak which I have to admit she does really, really well, whilst I'm having a rather large pork chop with red onion and mushroom surrounds and a decent marinade in bourbon bbq sauce done on the Q. We do meet at the veg - jacket potatoes, on Q, green beans, irradiated at this time of year and, get this, she is perfectly happy to have some of the gravy for my meat on her potatoes I thought my kids had weird tastes in food Cheers

That pork chop sounds fantastic! You should post pics in WDYC.
Alas I'm on call, so instant soup is all there's on the menu tonight...

I really must get my finger out and take more pics, it's just I honestly am a terrible, terrible photographer and tbh I never think about it when cooking. Yeah, the pork chop was excellent, not had one for a while but the butcher had these really good ones earlier in the week. Cheers

No goat here unfortunately. Had been looking forward to it and was going to try something different.
Roasted low and slow wrapped in foil with sliced Apple and pear and a spice rub.
Oh well. Beef roast with coffee rub and roast veggies will have to do.
