Almost 45 yo and this is the first time I have ever eaten Cheeks and all I can say is...........
WOW!!!...WOW!!!...WOW!!!...WOW!!!...WOW!!!... and just one more WOW!!!...to be sure
In all my life, I have never eaten Beef that literally "MELTS IN YOUR MOUTH",,,,,,,, leaving a mouth feel and taste to be remembered.
I started with 4x sealed packets of Cheek, average weighing in around 400grs, which was later found out ended up being 2x pieces per pack.
Total cook time was 3.5 hours
And the way they were cooked was, well, couldn't have been better.
Ladies and gentleman, Coles have these for 10bux a KG soooo, don't mess around. Go get em and like me, you will fall in love.
That said, and as I said in another thread here, they sell fast and can be hard to get. Best off ringing your local before you go to save disappointment.
Im going to stock up on these, that's for certain

Actually I would say Wagyu is the honeypot keeping the well-heeled no-nothings away from the truly good stuff. I had a Korean restaurant thing with a mate last week that had a wagyu part to the DIY cook plates, the earlier, I asked, marinaded aged rump, was way better Looks great Shayne - still waiting to see if our Coles gets any, before they make like lamb shanks and become prime It really is a bit crazy, a very, very under-rated cut, shanks the same, get some good cooking going, lift sales - prices go ballistic Cheers

Considering you only get 2 off each cow they are pretty cheap, shanks are already popular and over priced.

Glad you liked them ppl..... Cheeks were the new bug thing a little while ago back home. One night no one knew them, the next every restaurant had them un their menu.
Nice thing is that they are so versatile... You can serve them over mash like a stew, you can pull them an servr them in sandwiches, you can thin the sauce a bit and serve them as a soup, put them in pies.... So many ways to eat them

..... Cheeks were the new bug thing a little while ago back home. One night no one knew them, the next every restaurant had them un their menu. Yeh and the price started to dribble up. Fortunately they dont seem to have copped the inflation as much as shanks. Good looking cook Shayne except.................(and i know i'll get slapped for it) I'd have left the mushrooms out. Dave

Party is over, They are now back up to $15 per KG Mmmmm, are they really but, still not bad though at 15, when you consider its all meat (appart from the fat content). Shanks on the other hand, your probably paying 20-30 bux net. Shayne
