Gday My wife's just had a heap of dental work done. In hospital the whole sherbang in one sitting. Got her home the she started to get feeling back in her mouth. Wants soup... Pumpkin soup. Quick trip to the green grocers and a butternut pumpkin, were away. Usually I bake the pumpkin off in the oven. Put into some chicken stock and some White pepper simmer for 1/2 an hour. Blend with the stick blender when cool ( saves on pots) and it's done. Thought I'd do something different. Use the Q and bbq the pumpkin off instead of the oven. Diferent, but it worked well enough, to get a " do that again" real bbq flavour went well with the roasting to bring out those big sugary flavours. regards dave

G'day I usually serve it with garlic chives on top but the possums have eaten them down to the nub. The parsleys gone the same way. I'm praying the basil is a bit strong for them. For the moment the plan is to move the parsley and chives into the front garden and leave a "sacrificial " crop in the back yard. Regards dave

I can't say I ever use butternut, that one is way too good for soup, but kent/jap yep, big winter food here. I did get onto the roast it in the Q trick some years ago by utter accident when we had a LOT of left over pumpkin from a roast - never done it any other way ever since. I always start with a very finely chopped onion sauteed in butter, add in maybe half the pumpkin, mash it a bit and start adding stock and pumpkin. Lots of pepper, usually some salt, (pink to fool myself it's healthy ) and stab mix. It's one of those dishes though - if you have some bacon bits around saute them with the onion and forget the salt later Bit sad on your garden there Dave - my herbs never made it past utterly scorched this year, apart from sage, been reduced to Coles Cheers
