I kind of get the feeling it's just a bunch of chefs trying to be different. Re-Invent the wheel so to speak. Describing it with the word "culture" in there ignores half of what fusion can be, or is.
How do they explain beef and pork sausage? There is no culture in that. Sure it can be turned into something of mixed culture but it's still a fusion to start with.
What else accurately describes fusion?

Perish the thought As a sort of physicist I'd suspect if you were to put Jamie Oliver and Heston in the same room with just one other current crop celeb chef you might have a very dangerous critical mass What to call it if not Fusion? Be interesting to see what people suggest, Blurr sort of comes to mind Cheers

It's still Fusion - so what if it's a 90's thing or is no longer fashionable. They just want a new catch phrase to talk up their restaurant or style. So much over hype! I say call it what it is "Fusion". Unless you say I *must* stick with the times & serve up a "cross-culture" "Australlain" meal of microscopic portions of something that may have once resembled food with rose petals & artistically arranged lines of some incandescent coloured sauce! No thanks I'll stick with meat & three veg & be happy if a veg happens to be Bok Choy.
