Nice looking nuts . I could joke here but won't. Sure is the season. A mate from the footy club gave me a bag of his home grown pecan just last Tuesday. I wish I put a few of these in seven years ago. And the off cuts for smoke wood

I just get gumnuts that pollute my driveway I dunno what they are but have been assured not edible. I grew up with a massive old walnut tree in front of the house, get enough to pickle a few jars ? Pickled walnuts are just... um... yeah....talk amongst yourselves... They are pretty good Cheers

Try throwing a few handfuls of them in the blender with some garlic, or lots of garlic, a bit of olive oil, a splash of vinegar ,S&P.... Blend to creamy consistency adding a bit of water if needed. We call it Skordalia at home and it goes great with fried fish, especially battered.

It's set in stone now. I'm going to do this ASAP even bypassing the fishing and straight to the fish monger in the morning. I've so have to try that out Ozy.

Glad to bring back good memories.....
Skordalia can be made in different ways, using walnuts, bread or boiled potatoes as the "carrying" medium. Personally I prefer the walnut version.
Traditionally it is served alongside lightly battered and fried fish, most often Cod, either fresh or the salted kind (Bakalau)
I found it goes quite well with pretty much any kind of fish, fried or boiled, fried seafood (if you go a tad easier on the garlic) and also lightly battered and fried veggies.
