Just a quick hello to all. I am a long time 4 burner barbie user. Overpriced POS from one of the major BBQ retailers. Yeah it cooks BBQ stuff OK, cant really use it for much more. So I am about to give this thing away and grab a Weber Q. Looking at what some of the good people in here do with the Q's has me excited. I am a little undecided as to what size Q to go for. Its mostly just the 2 of us, so I am leaning towards the Baby Q, then again the Q gives me that little bit of 'headroom' for the times when the slavering hoards are with us What are the thoughts on that? OH, anyone wants a crappy 4 burner barbie (that still works OK, as is needs a bit of a clean) I am in Penrith. Looking forward to sharing with you all. Steve

Welcome to our forum Steve Id go as big as I can afford. The new 3200 is split (I think) now so you can just use one side for small stuff. Not sure if the 2200 is split but someone will know. For the main house bbq, There will be days you'll be glad you bought the larger size 2200 or 3200. Id consider the baby q a camping tool or as a small meal for two cooker but also have a larger back up bbq when the crowd is there. And let's face it,,, who don't like to show off a bit when a crowd is around.

A big welcome from me too Steve.
The best descision you will make is swapping to a Weber Q. I can cook practically anything on mine. Re your dilema about which size. I own a Baby Q which I keep in my Wingebago - perfect size for 2 on the road but has size restrictions as far as fitting a lot on though I have cooked for 11 with a bit of planning. I first started demonstrating the Q200 for Weber when they were new to the market. I purchased one then upgraded mine to the Q220 when they came out. I also have demonstrated the Q320, If price and size are not big factors then go for the Q3200AU because of the two burners and larger grill surface it offers a lot more versatility in how and what you can cook and at what temperatures. The next best is a toss-up but I would say the Q2200 by a small margin. I can cook 2 chooks at the same time on mine. The baby is best suited for Grey Nomads. Ask away with any questions about the Q and I will gladly respond so will many other members.

Hi also, a Q220 owner here. I agree totally with the Captain, the Qs are just incredibly versatile, I've barely scratched the surface after owing one for about 18 months now I guess. Given there are mostly just the two of us I did look at the Baby but under the astute advice of a Weber specialist went for middle of the range and glad I did. A few people have had some problems getting the 220 hot enough, not been my experience at all but certainly the 320/3200 gets hotter, a friend has the older model and has a very easy time of cooking pizzas on it, it's a bit more of a performance with the 220 but apparently the 2200 has addressed that anyway. Still, the 3200 really is the pick of the crop, just as my tag says I bought a Q for the option of gas when cooking on the kettle was too big a hassle Cheers

Thank you all so much for the replies and the advice. After a bit more research, yep the baby Q just wont cut it. Looking at the 2200 its $399, add the patio trolley and its $600. The 3200 is only $100 more. (rounding the figures) Pizza will be a regular occurrence. It sort of becomes a no-brainer really. As smokey says, "The new 3200 is split (I think) now so you can just use one side for small stuff." that would make it perfect. Thanks again to you all, methinks its a 3200 Now all I need to do is justify it to the other half, I still havent lived down the poor decision with the 4 burner lol. As smokey says

Hey Mick, None are split, still set up as per the older model, though, all the 3 new models have split grills so you can replace half with a hotplate if that's what your into:) but the burners are still set up as before.

Hi guys.... Weber Q owner myself. I think that the 3200 IS split, not Right and left burner, but rather an inner and outer burner. Dunno about how effective that would be, as I never bothered checking it out. Living by myself, the Baby Q was the only reasonable choice.

G'day I have 4 yr old Q200, brought it after a neighbor brought one for camping then abandoned his 4 burner to use the Q. He didn't buy the stand and uses a fold down camping table. I followed his lead and mine sits on a hardwood table I built specially for it. Just a thought Regards dave

yep, My bad. From descriptions I had it my head they changed to side by side burners but it was only the grills that were split. Would have been good if they did split the burners.

G'day That's the point you don't need to run 1/2 the plates for the 3200, they are completely different to say a 4 burner when you run it on 2 burners to save gas. They are just as frugile as the other Qs on gas. I have a friend with the 3200 who got it on my recommends and he's the same a bottle of gas lasts 3 or 4 times longer than with a normal multi burner bbq..' Regards dave
