Am in the market for a meat slicer, nothing special just some thing i can use to slice homemade bacon etc. any advice on brands? would appreciate any info.
Found a good food site a few days ago here's the address locafoodheroes.co.uk i reckon a lot of members will find something of interest there. cheers tomh.

I stripped out the gears on an ALDI slicer and just reciently ebayed one of these, www.ebay.com.au/itm/161497240864?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649Its not commercial but has a large motor and the serrated blade seams to slice my hard salamis much better than my old smooth blade. This one also has a bit more throw which is important for bacon. It won't do an entire belly and loin length (Only big commercial slicers do that) , but this one is as wide I've found in the price point. It was a Xmas present just past so I cannot Totaly recommend however Im liking it so far. It was this or the Maxima at 150W , The bigger 180W Luvelo donk won out There are TWO Luvelo's, A standard and the PLUS wich is wider and was a no brainer for the extra ten bucks or so.

If your after something a bit more heavy duty check these out -- ' slicers' . I bought the 250 mm model and after owning a range of domestic slicers I am glad I spent the extra, they have a built in sharpener which you can remove till needed, and its very easy to clean. These are entry level commercial quality at a fraction of the cost of some of the better known brands. The body is one piece polished aluminium and it also comes with a blade protector which makes the blade safe to handle when washing it.

Link please Hoddo? Captain It's in there Cappy, the blue word "slicers" Hoddo is right, Id go one of these and will some day. Funds were an issue and I needed to break down cured meats fast. If I get a few years I'll be happy.
