He wasn't here long but sadly I heard this week that my friend from Tennessee died at home last Sunday.
He rubbed a few folk here the wrong way during his time, which I have to say did not surprise me much, he could always let loose with words faster than he could think it through.
I'd known him over a decade and only spoke with him a few days before he died. He wasn't well but I was very saddened to get the news.
RIP Jamie

He was a character alright, I quite liked him. Although there was some misunderstanding early, He stuck by the forum and made his last post only a few days prior to his passing. I am saddened by this news. he won't get to make his Christmas feast. I will be sure to make a thought for Jamie when I sit at the table and maybe include one of his southern dishes. RIP Southern Thunder

He had some very good, and some very strange recipes indeed gatsby. We'd swopped cooking stuff for years, I could never get across to him that opening and combining a few tins and packets was not really cooking, it was convenience. But that said when he did cut loose in the kitchen he could sure lay on a feast. I honestly do not know just what is going on with any burial service or such, don't really have any other contact with people in his town but friends in Texas and Virginia are trying to find out and I've been monitoring obituary notices from his local paper. He was somewhat of a frustrated non-military type who really had wanted to do military service beyond ROTC but a couple of things stopped him. There's an Air National Guard base not far from his town, tankers, a friend who flys out of there has told me they plan a bit of a flypast for him when the service is announced - he'd have liked that I think.

I would have loved to pull strings and get him a missing man, in my dreams with Tomcats. The Cats are all gone and given the current US budget strife flippant fly-bys, um, don't fly. However the tanker guys do fill up thirsty F/A18s pretty often from a few NAS' in the south, not too hard to position one over Knox once we have a date and time - multi-daily events He carries in his inimitable fashion a bit of cred that I had not realised, one of his grandfathers is a bit of a USN hero, from WWII but the navy has a very long memory Eh, least I can do for the boy from Tennessee Cheers

Well, Had some indirect correspondence from his mother. The funeral service is 11am Monday Knoxville time here: www.dignitymemorial.com/lynnhurst-greenwood-chapel/en-us/index.pageFor me that is midnight Monday night more or less. A notice of the service isn't on the website as yet but I guess it will be and looks as if there will be a guest book. Be nice if a message or two were left, I think there will be quite a few from Australia, he never came to visit but he had a lot of friends here.
