Thanks for remembering a uniquely American holiday of food and family. I'll post these since I already have them up on photobucket. These are are from 2011, beginning with the guest of honor. This is what my grandmother called oyster dressing. It was originally flowing in copious amounts out of the back of the turkey and technically it's stuffing but I've stuck to the family term. My paternal grandmother's homemade yeast rolls. Deviled eggs These also happen to go great with barbecue. Pea salad. This is a year round go to dish for me. Homemade cranberry relish. This is great mixed in with the oyster dressing. Dumplings. One of my favorites. Green bean casserole. Not a favorite of mine but some of my guests loved it. Especially my step-dad who passed away early this year. Corn casserole. The newest edition to the menu. Now for those with a sweet tooth. A mint julep cake that's from a mid-70s Southern Living cookboook. And my paternal grandmother's homemade pecan pie

We did it up with all the trimmings...Mash potato's, 2 different dressings (Apple Corn bread & Sausage Sage). Yam casserole, Green Bean casserole, cranberry's (only good for juice and drinking), gravy and rolls! Cooked on Memphis Pro with 100% Mesquite and Pecan Wood blend!

That feast would last me a week Jamie Your pea salad sounds a bit like my mrs seven layer salad. We should compare as I love it. The corn casserole sounds interesting. Is that like a take on grits?

You might change your mind about my cranberry relish if I'd mentioned it has 8 ounces of bourbon in it. My pea salad is similar to seven layer salad but not the same thing. It's lettuce, 2 cans sweet peas, Mayo, salt, sugar and onions. All layer half and half then topped with bacon and shredded Cheddar cheese. Best to let it refrigerate over night. Corn casserole isn't a take on grits it's fresh corn scraped from the cob. I'll post a like to the recipe a bit later.

Happy Thanksgiving indeed I've been living in the US twice during Thanksgiving, on both occasions I had just about recovered from massive excess of anything and everything in time for Christmas to try to kill me Cheers

It's perhaps one pass time Australians could do with. To be mindful of our lot on this earth. Australia day just come to mind So we get to over eat, play backyard cricket and get snaked on the other side of Yuletide

Here's a link to the corn casserole. I've only ever made it at Thanskgiving but I think it would be great with Barbecue.
