One thing I don't like is washing up. Three or four shelves covered in cooked on brisket or ham skin and fat, that you left in the smoker since that last cook 2 weeks ago, is hard to manage in the kitchen. My solution is a wash station outside, just 2 bits of compressed fibro, one leans against the wall the other on the ground. Stand grate/shelf up against the wall bit and give a good spray on both sides with easy off bam oven cleaner (I tried a few and this one works best). Place next shelf infront of the one you just sprayed and continue till all shelves are coated, then wrap in a bit of black plastic and put in the shade for a few hours or overnight. Then using a small waterblaster blast them off, they come up spotless in just a few minutes. Wear disposable gloves, bam burns. Bottom bit of fibro stands up out of the way against the wall bit, with the plastic inside ready for next time.

It's just a pity you can't really treat the inside oven like that - swear to God, I hardly use it but it seems to attract grime like some magnet. BAM is the best around but you still with indoor have to wipe it out, the wife would sort of object to my bringing the Karcher in Cheers

Yeh, it's really the only way. I found a large black plastic oil drain tub that fits grilles laying down flat. And use a commercial water based engin degreaser concentrate and give them a soak. I have pics but looks like everyone in the family is on the net and slowing things down.
