Hello fellow bbq-ers!
It's summer time in Australia and therefore it's time to bbq
Much loved Aussie larrikins, Glen Buchanan and Greg Champion (aka 'Bucko and Champs'), capture the essence of the Australian bbq culture through their classic song, 'Australians let us Barbecue' (sung to the Australian National Anthem - check it out on youtube <bucko & champs>). For me, the bbq is more than just cooking a wonderful meal; it's about sharing quality time with family and friends in this great nation of ours.
Many years ago I bought a Weber kettle bbq and enjoyed many a roast joint or chicken, and even run the odd turkey through it at Christmas time too. But, as it happened, the time taken to prepare the Weber with briquets became an issue and we 'converted' to a Jackaroo Grange gas bbq with a hood. A step backwards in my opinion, but it does the job for a quick steak and/or sausage.
However, I recently become aware of the Weber Q range and ran across Captain Cook's (Phil) posts to another bbq forum which has got me searching around for a Weber Q series bbq. Phil put me onto this site so that I could view his cookbook - thanks Phil Future postings will hopefully chronicle my exploits as I acquire a new Weber Q and experiment with it.
In terms of my tribe, I have been blessed with a beautiful wife of 25 years and two beautiful daughters who have blossomed into young ladies. By virtue of the daughters, I seem to have 'acquired' two young gentlemen who happen to hang around them most of the time and so need the odd feed or two. So the bbq will help out there
Best regards,
Greg
