Ya gotta love Guntree and why would you ever want to pay a premium cost on a new kettle when Gumtree is around. What a great resource it is.
Got an EE (1999) model yesterday for 40 bux
They had $50 on it, but when I rang, I pushed the subject that I was a collector and its gotta be smick, especially the lid....
When asked,"is there any chips in the enamel on the lid" (most common place for a kettle to see battle scars), gotta big "NO",
But when I got out there, it did have a chip on the lower outer rim (about the size of a pea) and then the seller must have sensed disappointment on my face, said I could take it for $40 .
My biggest surprise was when I lifted the lid,,,,,, it had a Weber drop in CI grate . I couldn't believe what my eyes where seeing
Apart from the chipped enamel, she's in fantastic condition although, needs a good clean as it looks like they never knew they had to use a drip tray when roasting.
The bright side to this, with all that oil and gunk down low in the bowl, it has preserved the one touch blades from premature failure from rust......
Once cleaned, this one will be dedicated as my new Pizza station, and the old model (the one with the three daisy wheel vents down low) will be put into retirement as its a PITA each time I go to use it......
Here are some pics, for those of us that are not sick of seeing yet another One Touch Gold
Pretty happy with the way she came up after a basic clean
And the chip in the enamel....... that I guess I will have to live with
All in all, pretty honest for 40 bux

Y'know I really should watch Gumtree a bit more, thing is, I've never bought myself a kettle. My first was a basic black Weber whatever model that was, a birthday present from my parents, the second, which I still have, is a dead ringer for this one, obtained on Visa loyalty points Looking good Shayne, mine would have decidedly more enamel chips than that Cheers

Yeh, I am really happy with it.
That's it now, I wont be buying any more Weber BBQ's as my arsenal is now complete.
2x Weber Performer Gold 2x Weber Gold 1x Weber GA 1x Weber SJ 1x Weber JJ 1x Weber Genesis (that hasn't been used in at least 24 months)
Happy days

Never get anything good like that on Gumtree within 100 klm of my place. Good pick up. Saw one at the tip the other day but it was knackered, only the charcoal baskets were saveable but they're too big for the K Mart kettle.
Might have to watch the Canberra area and time collection to fit in with the young blokes footy. Gods waiting room in Batemans Bay and most people moving here have already down sized before they get here.
Reckon you'll probably get more, we all will. I've said it myself and been wrong, sometimes a bargain is too good to pass up. I've even bought things (tools mainly) planning on cleaning them up and reselling but then I use it and it's here for good.

That is a sweet and clean unit,,,, And the cast Iron grill, I can see a few rump steaks getting a workout on that Your gunna have to delegate each weber to a certain cooking style lest you try to decide Which one you will use

Cheers Mick!!!
Yes, each are assigned as its own station, for different cooking methods, so I don't have to mess around with setup.
