To all our members, family and friends that live in areas from the Illawarra to the Central Coast, then inland throughout the Hunter region and Blue Mountains, I wish that all are safe during this out of the ordinary Severe Weather.
I have just finished watching the news and was shocked with what I saw, with the Hunter area seeing the worse.
Conditions are forecasted to get worse, peaking around Midnight, and hopefully, some relief in hours moving forward.
Stay safe everyone.

It's very frightening Shayne, i seem t be a bit protected due to being in a townhouse arrangement and have just huddled up my bbqs together so they shouldn't be able to move too much... Just hope my back awning stays put. Feel very sorry for those in Dungog....how terrible would it be to see a house float down the street not knowing if there's anyone trapped inside....sadly in one house there were 3 elderly that died. As i type this, its presently category 2 cyclone winds and rain....it's a shocker!! It's heading back to Western Sydney.

Very scary stuff, been following it all day.
Mother Nature is unfortunately not a bitch you can really argue with when she gets in a tizz.
Take care all.

It's crazy. This time of year can and has thrown woblyes in the past. Hope all keep safe. And stay away from large gum trees. If there is one near the house consider bunking down away from it.

It blew my Weber over.
I thought these things were perfectly balanced but apparently not rated for 100km winds.
Bit of a weak whinge when you see what the poor buggers in Dungog are going through

The weather is crazy - Steady rain all night & then at 5am a thunderstorm comes through - lighting, thunder & very heavy rain. Had 38 mm so far today & most of it in the last 2 hours! The dog's like it - been able to sleep inside the last couple of nights - except they can't go for their morning / evening walks. Got to check the roads to see if I can get into work....

Im nearing ha Gatsby.
I havent had much sleep from about 2am onwards due to the heavy rain bucketing down. My backyard is looking like s swamp and my chickens like drowned rats.
I havent had a chance to see the news and what else is happening around the state but am guessing it wont be good.

Power went out at O Dark AM Tue and came back on at 8.30PM last night, off a bit today while they continue to do more repairs. Some places will be lucky to see power in a week according to a mate who's on one of the line repair teams. We have some ceiling damage on the south side of the house from the rain being driven up under the tiles, cheapskate builder didn't use any sarking. Tiles are about 35 years old so I'll go new tin roof in a few months time. Lost the contents of the fridge but saved the freezer stuff thanks to my mate next door who has a genny unit big enough to carry my freezer as well as his and his fridge.

Unfortunately the brains behind the power companies are not letting a lot of blokes work full overtime. They have a fatigue agreement that allows them to do 16hrs but they have tightened the screws in some areas and knocked them back to 10. Dave

Cripes, 10 hours is a normal day.
Hope your Insurance goes without a hitch Bill, I've got a geny I used for remote building sites that has saved the day many times with blackouts. But it's noisey, Sounds like a ride on mower going all night.

Dave Under the conditions that the power guys were/ are working under, 10 hours on is a sensible approach when you're dealing with wires down and snapped power poles, you don't want these guys working in fatigue mode while working with electricity...could be fatal mistakes made for them and others. I cleaned out my WSM today, the force of the horizontally blown rain had found the slight gap in the side door and all of my remaining coals i was saving for the next cook were soaked and in the bottom of the bowl was a slurry of ash and water....oh well.....it wasn't too bad...it needed a good clean up ready for it's next job. considering the force of that storm that lingered in with category 2 cyclonic winds for 2 days and nights, the WSM just stood there and never budged..it was right at the end of the back porch under my back awning....none of my 3 Webers moved. cheers Davo

Glad everyone came out reasonably unscathed. All we got up here was fine weather but one good chill snap that gave both the missus and I a season change cold. Man flue for me.

Its all about reducing costs. I could go on about the other rubbish that has happened but basically the Government approach has changed from "look after the public" to "keep the cost down"

I might get to meet the famous Bill44 coming up in person .
I went for another interview today with a National Insurance Builder, supervising repairs to property affected by the latest weather.
One of the questions, "how would you feel managing repairs in the Newcastle region"....
Not really liking the sound of this one, and probably wont accept if offered the role
