Albatross it was. The wind was forty knots from the south. He flew into it then peeled off for a figure 8. As he turned with the wind the wings stalled. He lost forty knots of speed and I remember he was too slow to start with. My view of that day is nobody should have flown but they pushed the show, You could tell other aircraft were having problems with the wind. We are not in the right section but Bent started it

Was trying to remember, not much on line about that crash, two people on board, the ones who restored it. Those old airplanes are not very forgiving, especially in fickle winds, jets have the grunt to deal with it, usually, with the caveat that with swept wings if you induce a stall like that you had better have some altitude. If I recall correctly the pilot was a high-time retired airline guy. Airshows can create a strange state of mind in pilots, "show must go on" mentality. Not flown in many, my funny story was when on Lightnings, doing a low fly past at Farnborough. Didn't take off from the field came in from my base. Typical English weather, clear blue at home, low cloud over the show. Apparently it was pretty dramatic from the ground, came down the runway at a couple of hundred feet and the air was so moisture laden that my aircraft squeezed out rain behind me. I went straight over the commentary box in a twisting climb and soaked Raymond Baxter Twenty odd years later he still remembered It is the wrong section but not to worry, the way of forums sometimes. I moderate a small place created by a mate that doesn't really have a theme, sort of a virtual pub, we always figure a thread gets interesting when it drifts off topic Cheers

To drag this thread back to subject I mentioned to Bentley in the intros that I'm not a sausage maker, been thinking about it, but I do know a very elderly Polish guy who has been making sausage for himself and members of the Polish community here for years. I've been given some from time to time that I have had to sneak into the house, my kids, and my wife, are not fans, but the deception was worth it I gave him a call yesterday to see if I could pinch some recipes and found myself talking to one of his sons, seems the old guy, he must be 90, is in very poor health and going blind so his sausage making days are over, very sad, he's a lovely guy. However one of his other sons is still cranking up the sausage production line a bit and said his dad's recipes are really not that different from the ones you can find here: www.lets-make-sausage.com/polish-sausage-recipes.htmlThe biggest difference he said was his dad never knows when enough garlic is enough You may already know of the site Bentley but if not it looks pretty good to me and seems to cover a lot of ground on sausages in general. Cheers

As I just posted in the other thread the old guy's sausage recipes are continuing with his son who had some there for us to share last night. I had a good look around that site, the son tells me when his dad became unable to do the sausage making any more there was a bit of a panic because they'd never taken much notice of what he put in the sausages and never written anything down. The son went surfing and after a few experiments found that site and apart from dad keeping on telling him "more,!! More garlic!!" his dad has approved of the product Oral traditions are going to the Web I guess Makes me vow to tool up for some sausage making but even more to pick the brains of my family a bit more, we don't keep much record of recipes we come up with either I guess this site will be part of the carrying on of traditions as well Cheers
